The Weekly Recap #005

It was a great week! I picked up two new SEO clients: a pool company and a dental office. I know the gurus say nich down, but my current niche is money.

What I Learned: If you start doing client SEO, you will quickly realize that all those “free” SEO tools don’t get the job done. At some point, you have to bite the bullet and spring for a subscription to SEMRUSH, Ahrefs, Nightwatch, or something else.

Just no way around it. Then, you will quickly learn you need some type of reporting system for clients.

This is what really drove me to SEMRUSH a few years ago. I needed a good way to send out automated SEO reports to clients. Many clients never read them or understand them, but a few looks for them in their inbox each month.

It is also one of the biggest complaints I hear from new SEO clients about their old SEO guy…”we never knew what was going on.”

Even with SEMRUSH, I found out recently I needed something more. I had a longtime client leave over my reporting. They really didn’t understand their SEO campaign and didn’t understand the monthly PDF sent out from SEMRUSH. This is all my fault, I know, but learn from my mistakes.

Their new SEO guy had a fancy dashboard that was, wait for it, “memorizing, all-inclusive, and exactly what we need to see.” Which was precisely my monthly report minus the memorizing feature.

So, I was on the hunt for a new, fancy , real-time dashboard.

What I Bought: I ended up going with Agency Analytics. Like all of these dashboards, setting up and integrating the accounts is a pain in the you-know-what. They seem to be a little less painful, but it takes time.

With Agency Analytics, you can use one of their pre-built dashboards, build your own, or customize their templates. The first client I loaded and was able to show was blown away! So, it’s money well spent. If you are charging $2,000 to $5,000 a month or more, a fancy dashboard is to be expected.

What I’m Watching: If you do any SEO, Affiliate Marketing, or other content creation, you must use Zimmwriter! I don’t care what you may think about A.I. content; for now, it’s here to stay, and if you don’t utilize it in some way, you will be crushed by the guys who do.

Matt Zimmerman’s YouTube channel is very cool. I have had my Zimmwriter license for a while now, but I still only use 25% of Zimmwriter’s capabilities. I am on a mission to master it this quarter and have a few of my team become experts using it as well.
